Briefly...

A busy week, once again with us rushing around trying to do too much.

Some nice highlights though. We had friends over yesterday afternoon, and for dinner, which was very nice - and another chance to use the slow cooker! This time we had lamb, cooked with sweet potatoes. Yummy!

Today, our HE group took the 8s and unders to Discovery, in Stratford. Roarke went with Samuel and William, and Joshua stayed here with his friend Theo.

They did some experiments with magnetics (from a kit Joshua had) and I was proud to hear Joshua explaining things to Theo, and answering his questions on magnets.

I was even more proud when he, off his own back, went and got on with writing his "About My Family" essay for his english!

I'm just awaiting the return of the travellers - they were there for some 3 hours so it sounds like they enjoyed themselves!

Trying to get my head around more HE campaigning stuff today. I've also fixed a date with the Safer Neighbourhood Team from one of the local police stations, for me to go in and "train" them (for 2 hours - she said "is that enough time"?!!) on how home education...

With the greatest of respect to the police (and don't forget, I'm the daughter of an ex-copper), I find it laughable that they are asking me how to do their job. I mean, they want to know "if" there are any procedures for how to deal with home ed kids they meet on truancy patrol etc.... I almost thought they were joking. So it will take 2 hours for me to walk in and show them where to find the Home Office guidelines on their shelves?!!

I truly don't mean to sound flippant, and I am actually extremely pleased to be able to go in there like this - but, it does make you wonder...

Oops, here come the kids! Back later...

The police lack of knowledge does not surprise me. I found out the ones here think if the child is on"their lunch break" and says they are H.E it is O.K to let them go on their way. They were not aware HE children are not bound by school hours and can go out at anytime.

Good luck with educating the law on the law. ;-)
